In women, they can cause typically masculine symptoms such as a deepening of the voice, growth of facial and body hair and loss of breasts, as well as menstruation problems and swelling of the clitoris. For example, some manufacturers may recommend, in the patient information leaflet, that a medicine is not given to children aged under 12 years. In most cases, this is because the manufacturer will recruit adults to clinical trials in the first instance and therefore the initial marketing authorisation (licence) only covers adults and older children. If your child does have chicken pox, their steroid doses may need to be stopped. I just sort of, I think, wakened up one morning and could hardly get out of bed.
